We believe that anyone can navigate difficult and complex issues in their lives, when offered a safe and emotionally supportive space.  They can then journey through and past problems by creating the foundations for a  prosperous life.  Often our clients feel powerless to change their situation and the people in it.  We aim to empower our clients to think, behave and feel more positively about their situation and their future.

My talent lies in my ability to connect in a meaningful way to anyone regardless of their age or circumstances.  For over 30 years I have gained experience and knowledge, across the UK, in areas such as business, human resources, and learning & development.  But it was in 2005, after qualifying as a counsellor, that I found my true vocation.  I founded the a charity called Headroom, which has provided specialist one-to-one counselling for more than 12 years.  I am especially proud that, both as Headroom and now The Wellbeing Academy,  we helped over 2500 emotionally troubled and damaged children and young people, embark on the road to fulfilling their potential.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and have written a series of articles for the BACP Children & Families Journal.  I am passionate about building up a workforce of school counsellors and, along with my colleague, we have written and deliver an accredited training course called 'Children Matter' through our company Essential Training Associates.

I set up The Wellbeing Academy in 2016 and am delighted to be working with a team of experienced counsellors, psychotherapists, life coaches and trainers.  We work with children, young people, parents and teachers providing a range of quality wellbeing programmes and services.   We focus on boosting resilience, enhancing emotional wellbeing and promoting positive mental health.

We are passionate about equipping school staff and parents with the knowledge and resources to feel confident

and skilled when helping the children in their care, we do this by offering a range of services such as one-to-one

counselling, workshops and training.  We are especially pleased to be partnering with The Resilience Doughnut UK.

What are people saying about us?

Counselling gave me a haven where I could openly and honestly face my deepest emotions, anxieties and dreams without fear of judgement, shame or repercussion.

16 year old girl

You have and are being a stepping stone for my 8 year old son, who has been coming here for a few weeks.

His life has been changed in so many ways that are outwith my control and his own, but with your help my little boy is returning.

“I am convinced that their approach has allowed a number of pupils to confront and overcome issues and to then find greater success in school and in life beyond the classroom.” Graham Marshall Headteacher
