Professional Counselling Psychotherapy
Counselling helps you manage and cope with stressful life events, such as bereavement, relationship issues or losing your job, as well as difficult emotions, such as guilt, sadness, confusion, anger, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety and long-term physical health problems.
Some people think therapy is an extreme option, and that unless things are badly wrong, you should try to manage on your own. But this isn't true.
Counselling is appropriate at any point in your life, whatever the situation. Counselling is beneficial when you're not at crisis point, as things are more comfortable to reflect upon at this stage and help prevent things from getting worse.
Private counselling can be expensive. We are fortunate here at the Wellbeing Academy to be working with trainee and newly qualified counsellors who are able to offer counselling affordable counselling. Our partnership enables you to receive our usual high quality service and our Academy students benefit from support and experience within a professional practice.
Prices are set on a sliding scale depending on your income, form £20 per session.
Our teenage years can be both enjoyable and challenging as we transition to adulthood. Complex emotions, relationship issues, sexuality, stress and anxiety all accompany this period of transformation. Friends and family can be a great support, but there are times when this is not enough and counselling is needed.
Youth Counselling provides teenagers with opportunities to discuss distressing issues with a skilled and impartial practitioner and address problems at home, with friends, at school, college or work. Youth Counselling is best suited for ages 13 - 20 years.
Children's Counselling involves both talking about and exploring through art and creative activities, feelings, thoughts and experiences. This can help your child to make sense of what’s going on in their life and find ways of coping when things are difficult.
We understand that when your child is struggling, it can be really worrying as a parent – and it might feel like a big step to decide to reach out to a counsellor or psychotherapist. The truth is that children and young people come for counselling for all sorts of reasons and we work with you supportively to think about what’s going on and how you can makes things better. Children's counselling is best suited for ages 8 - 12 years.
Therapeutic play is better suited to younger children aged 4 - 7 years, because they are still developing the intellectual reasoning abilities and verbal skills needed to articulate their feelings, thoughts and behaviours. We are trained child counselling psychotherapists and therapeutic play has curative powers to help children resolve their difficulties now and in the future.
Children play creatively and spontaneously using their imagination and a mixture of directive and non-directive play.
